Yesterday I took my baby out to a friends house to go swimming. Everything was great, she was fine running around jumping in the pool, having a blast. Then I noticed she started to act funny. She got really quite and wanted to cling to me. She was done swimming, she just wanted to chill and didn’t make a peep. She is normally a very loud dog when at This particular house. We sat on the steps until she was ready to swim again. When she helped I decided to get out and sit with her. Poor girl just sat under the table again not making a sound.

At this point I decided to call my husband (he works down the road) to come get her on his way home from work. I put her on the tie out, outside of the fence and sat near by. He comes picks her up and they go home. I came back home about an hour later and noticed she was STILL acting funny! ☹️ She was shaking even though she was dried and it was warm in the house (our AC isn’t working very well!).

Later on our kiddos was eating and my daughter dropped her plate. Ketchup went everywhere... and our dog stepped in it. She immediately pulled up her leg and started to scream/Yelp like I’ve never heard her before! I instantly knew something was wrong! Checked all her paw pads and found that 3 of the four are torn/peeled. 😫 The front one is better than the back two. She is in a lot of pain and is almost refusing to walk.

I called my vet and was told to clean it, put Neosporin on it, and wrap it. That there was nothing we could do since it wasn’t a puncture wound and wasn’t bleeding. I’m not sure what to do now. I’m only being told to watch for infection.

The guilt is starting to set in. I’ve already cried several times because if I had just left her at home with our other dog this wouldn’t have happened. I feel so bad and don’t know what to do. ☹️ Please does anyone have any advice? I feel terrible.
