Idk I’d have to know his specific reasonings. If it’s something that you’ve wanted and dreamt of since you were a little girl, I’d ask him to sacrifice for you. I know a lot of women have been dreaming of their weddings for years.

My husband and I both come from large families, and we contemplated the idea of having a large wedding, however, we just eloped, on the beach that we went to almost every day. It was WAY better than I could’ve ever imagined, and we didn’t have to worry about making anyone else happy but each other. We had a reception/party with our friends and family, but the vows and overall ceremony was so intimate and amazing. I’d recommend eloping to everyone

In my opinion and I’ve expressed this to my SO , I only plan on getting married once (& depending on what you want, small or large, expensive or not) I would rather wait and be engaged for longer and have my dream wedding than just do what we can afford and rush. That’s just my opinion but that’s a very important day in my book and it should be everything you want it to be.

I know I'm not having a huge wedding. Eff that noise and expense. I've told my bf I want to get married in a national park with just us two (or both of our parents at the very, very least), then we can have the family come in for the reception at one of the satellite towns that surrounds most parks. That way everyone is happy, plus everyone gets a mini vacation. He wants a huge wedding. Outside of my dad walking me down the aisle and jumping the broom I really could care less about wedding tradition but my bf doesn't like the idea of just us, so eventually we'll have to come to a compromise. If we stay together, that is.
