42 week-birth story finally

Courttany

42 weeks ladies. That’s how long it took.

My husband and I were laying in bed for the evening l, he was very anxious as we had our induction appointment the next day scheduled at 4pm. He’s talking about our to-do list and excited to become a family and all nervous. All of the sudden baby girl kicks at my cervix and I feel a slight gush of fluid (I had been leaking 2-3TBs of mucus discharge all week) and I notice it’s about to be a lot more and jump out of bed to my hands and knees on the floor and gallons and gallons of fluid just gushing down my legs all over our floor. We are just looking at each other dumbfounded and I finally tell him it’s starting to go under the bed get a towel. Flash forward 40 min a quick shower and clean up job and we arrive at the hospital around 12:45am and I check into triage. Triage confirms it is my waters and that I’m 3cm dilated and contractions are 2-4 min apart. We get to our labor room around 2:45am they tell me to go ahead and try to get some sleep and continue laboring they will be in to check at 4am to see how I’m progressing. I lay there and contractions start picking up bad at 3:30 I wait till 4am and they tell me I’m 4cm and want to start pitocin as I’m not progressing. I tell them I want the epidural then (pitocin hurts). Contractions are no joke! Everyone told me I would know when I was in labor and let me tell you they hurt and you cannot sleep through them. 6am and the epidural is on and I’m feeling fantastic! I take a quick nap from 6:30-8 then I’m awake and being checked. Baby’s heart rate is high and she’s moving around too much and contractions are coming every min so they go to check me at 9am to put a monitor on her head and I’m 9cm. Almost ready! We do the peanut ball and squats to get me to labor down and 10am I start pushing. We tried traditional, tug o war, knees up, but she wasn’t progressing past my pubic bone and was OP/sunny side up. The epidural starts to wear off on my right side and I’m crying through the contractions and can’t push anymore so we take a break to rest on my side and let epidural work again. Then we start up with tug o war, hands and knees, swaying rocking I’m trying to do everything to get this baby out but she keeps getting stuck on my pubic bone. I’ve been pushing for about 4hrs now and no luck, baby’s heart rate is skyrocketing, and she’s showing signs of distress and poor respirations. Dr. Comes in and says it’s time for a C section baby is distressed and your not progressing we need to get her out. I cried my eyes out I did not want a C section I wanted to deliver vaginally more than anything else my poor husband feels miserable. They wheel me off and I’m in surgery my husbands holding my hand and my baby girl entered the world at 2:59pm. Her APGAR score was a 4-cord was wrapped around her neck preventing her from dropping, they performed CPR to get her breathing and push out the fluid she swallowed, she passed meconium into the placenta, and being OP she might never have fit through my pelvic cavity. She then passed with an 8 and she’s handed to my husband. Most surreal experience of my life. And to all who say you don’t feel anything but pressure during a C section bull, I felt them pulling and tugging and it feels like someone taking all your organs out. Baby Cambria born 8lbs 10oz, 21.5in long and we are so blessed.

Not the birth I wanted but considering all that happened and what could have happened we are blessed with a healthy infant girl 🥰❤️
