Have you started potty training yet?

I haven’t started yet. My sons great grandma bought him a potty and his been pushing me to potty train him since he was 12 months 🤦🏾‍♀️. I’m gonna start next month when he turns 18 months. But I recently took it out the box and put it in the bathroom so he could get familiar with it. But I really don’t know where to even begin with it.. Has anyone started yet before 18 months? Was it hard?

I started at 14 months and now at 17 months I would say she’s about 85-90% potty trained. She still wears pull ups when we’re out and about just in case but we have a portable potty seat for that and she usually tells us when she has to go. She also has been able to be transitioned to panties at night and only has accidents every so often. For a while she would have good weeks then it was like she knew nothing about going on the potty so you just have to stick with it and be consistent! She now goes and gets on her potty by herself when we’re home we don’t have to constantly ask her if she needs to go anymore. I have a baby due in December though and I’m soooo worried she will regress. By then we will have been working on it 8 months so I’m hoping if she does it won’t be too bad to get her back on track!

We havent officially started training but we bought a potty that goes on the toilet and we sit him on it once a day, usually before bath time (we were having poop accidents in the tub). Just to get him comfortable with the idea of it before we start training.

I started with my daughter around this age. She ended up regressing a couple months later when my son was born. My son has gone a couple times on the potty and even pooped but I think he’s still too young to get it. I’ll be waiting till closer to 2. But we are leaving the potty in the bathroom and he sits on it and goes sometimes when my daughter who’s 3 goes.

My daughter came up to me and said “poop” and pointed to her diaper and she was right- she needed to be changed. That’s when we got the training potty out and just are now exposing her to it. Not actually potty training per say but more just letting her get used to the idea and asking if she wants to try (she attempts for like 2 seconds sometimes) and clap when she tries. Not pushing until she’s ready.
