When your plans change

Question

So if you decide to go out with baby and it's close to or past their bedtime, do you .. let them nap and put them to bed asap when you get home orrr let them nap and keep them up for the rest if their wake time before getting ready for bed?

Nap and put them to bed right away.  We do something similar with my daughter after daycare.  We get home and she’s exhausted but it’s only 5 or 5:30.  She sometimes will fall asleep in her swing and sleep for 20 minutes or so.  She may only be up for an hour before bed after that and does just fine!

I just let my little guy fall asleep wherever we are. We don’t do set nap times or bedtime. We’ve taken him out wayyy past his “bedtime” (he usually falls asleep around 8:30 on his own) and he would wake up for 30 minutes to an hour and then he would fall back asleep. As soon as we got home, he was put in his crib for the night.
