Has anyone taken Evening primrose Oil to help induce labor?

I started taking it at 36 weeks, at 36+5 I had a HUGE glob of mucus plug come out with light brown on it. 37+2 had more mucus plug come out, this time with a little fresh blood in it. I've had lots of period-like cramping, I assume from the prostaglandins in the epo. Also, by 37+4 I started feeling like my son dropped..had tons more pressure in my pelvis, stabbing cervix pain, ect. I hadn't been checked before this..but at 37+1 I was 3cm 50% effaced..and at 37+6 I stayed 3cm, but effaced to 70% and the dr was shocked at just how low my son was. I'm also on #3..so not sure if that progresses things quicker. And with all of my kids, I was 3cm at my 38 week appt so..there's also that. I just didn't want to tear so that's why I chose to take it..it seems to have helped me along a little bit..but idk.

I didn’t take it to induce, only to ripen my cervix. 
Don’t really know if it helped or if my body was just ready since this is my second kid in under a year. I gave birth at 39+6, but my cervix was already at a 5 and nearly fully effaced when labor started.

I didn't necessarily take it to induce labor, but began taking it orally at 37 weeks to hopefully help soften my cervix. I never used it vaginally because I was nervous about it possibly making labor longer, according to some things I'd read. Though I didn't have my baby until 40+1, my cervix was soft and favorable for a couple weeks leading up to delivery and my labor progressed quickly. I also drank a lot of raspberry leaf tea during my third trimester. Who knows if either "worked," but with the results I had I would definitely try both again in another pregnancy.
