I'm very proud of my last name . I am proud that my daughter has it on her birth certificate as well as her fathers . 
​I , indeed , had my child out of wedlock 11 years ago in January .... And guess what .. Her father and I are still together . He also wants to take my surname when we get married . Fancy that !

What's wrong with having both parents names, the child is both of yours! All this rubbish about the child needing the fathers name, a name doesn't justify anything, therefore my child will have both names as he/she was made by both of us and is our child!

My daughter has my maiden name, I am not with the orignial father. I have married a man since having her, and he plans to adopt her and give her his last name. Her original father does not want her. He has already told me.

If you can make love knowing that you could be bringing a child into the world, you should be more than willing to give your child his last name. I would never consider giving the child mine (whether together or not).

Depends on the relationship with the father, if I was still with him and things were going toward marriage I would do boyfriends last name -- if things were rocky, mine.

My Boyfriend only has two older adults with his last name left: his uncle and his father. His uncle has one son, and my boyfriend has one brother, so their are three boys/men left to carry their name and I have no problem what so ever giving my little one his last name.. I mean him and I were beatfriends growing up, and decided to date our senior year, and through this very complicated situation we stayed together and have grown up quiet a bit in our relationship. This is his son and I only see fit that we give him his last name (not that I'm against anyone who chooses otherwise) .. I guess I'm just old fashioned
