is there a minimum amount of time you would personally want to wait before marrying someone?

i feel like i would definitely want to be with someone for 3 or 4 years before marrying them! but some say thats way too long.
i saw on queer eye this couple were dating like 2 years and the guys basically told him to sh*t or get off the pot, which i thought was crazy lmfao
my aunt got engaged on the second date once 😭 it went soooo badly luckily they never married
my mom always says before you marry someone, 1. live with them. 2. travel with them. 3. handle money with them. because those can really show someone’s character and whether you’re compatible

My mom gave me the same advice and I totally agree! We already passed all 3 of those things so I feel we are ready for marriage. I always believed that there should be a minimum of 1 year of dating before i considered getting married to someone. Also, the fact that our families are in favor of us marrying makes us even more confident! Although, i do not want him to rush to propose until he feels ready

My boyfriend told me the other day he wants to live with the person at least for a year before he proposes. I never really thought about it but it’s a pretty smart thing to do. I’m pretty picky about certain things and so is he, so you at least know what you’re getting into before hand 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

I read that most guys know within 6months to a year and then they take another year or so to save up for a ring/to be absolutely sure before they ask. If someone hadn’t asked me by 3 years id be done, i say this because I waited nearly 8 years with an ex, i asked him and he thought i was joking. After we split he got engaged to his now wife within 8 months of meeting her and married her just over a year later.

I think it just depends on the relationship. Its only been 4 months with my current SO and I'll be honest, If he was ready, I'd totally be up for marriage. We already live together and we've already joked about it, but ik he's not ready yet. He did tell me that he's serious and wants me to be his last girlfriend, and we have promise rings. I consider it close enough for now. Lol

I just think it depends on the couple 😊 I met my husband on a blind date and knew about 4 months in. He proposed on our 6th month dating anniversary and we got married about 5 months later. We've been married for about 5 1/2 years and have never had a fight. The thing with our relationship whike dating though was that we met at college and had opposite semester schedules. Our college had a 3 track system. He was assigned the first two semesters and I had the last 2 semester so there was only one where we were both there. He was from Alaska and I was fron Oregon so when our semester ended we has to decide what we wanted to do. Neither if us wanted to break up so we decided to do long distance. We both had a hard time being away and realized that we had found our person. He came to visit my family for Thanksgiving and (without me knowing) asked for my parents permission to propose. I had to go back to college so he came with me and after a couple of days he proposed. He had to go back after that so our whole engaged time either he was in Alaska and I was in Idaho or he was in Idaho and I was in Oregon. It worked out perfect for us but I know it doesn't work for everyone. I also know people who dated for over 7 years and got married after a 2 year engagement then got divorced about a year later.

I married my husband after dating for 8 months. We will have been married for 9 years this December. It's not how I envisioned my life going but I definitely wouldn't change it.
