Spotting??

I’ve been on the shot for over a year now and never had a period on it. Today I had some spotting that was bright red blood, couldn’t be old. Does this have anything to do with possibly being pregnant? Don’t want to take a test if it could mean something else. I had intercourse the night before but there was no blood. Could it just be from that?
