I messed up!

Iv been tracking my ovulation theast 2 months. This month we want to ttc. We are hoping to add a boy to our 2 girls so Iv been doing the shuttles method. Well according to that method if you want to try for a boy you have a higher chance if you have sex on ovulation day, not before! Last night my CM was positive so we did the deed! I checked it right now and it says negative. For a second I was happy I didnt miss it until right now I see that a positive doesnt mean that was ovulation day! Im reading yalls post and it say 12-24 hours after a positive is when you ovulate. This means i messed up and should have had sex last night! I raised my chance for a girl. Of course we are happy with whichever we get as we are adding to our family and not done yet lol. But im wondering if anyone has done this method before? Or have you ttc before ovulation day and got a boy. Sorry if these are silly questions
