What qualifies as a “support person?”

Question

Looking up visiting hours for my delivering hospital and it says visiting hours are unrestricted for spouses/ partners and support persons. Does that mean family? Friends? Medical support? Whoever you feel supports you? 😅

Often it would be partner or spouse. It generally means ONE person who’d be with you a lot. They just don’t want lots if visitors all the time but accept that a new mum still needs A support person be it a partner, friend or family member.

I'm allowed 2 support ppl at all times so  my husband and lets say I bring my mom. Visitors would be anyone else.

I think it’s just referring to the one or two people who would be there for you (whatever your hospital limit is for your delivery) 
Some people aren’t with the baby’s father so they don’t want to say “spouse/partner” but they also don’t want to further explain “you can chose to have your mom, best friend, sister, aunt, doula.....” etc. 
My hospital would allow 2 people 24 hour access because that’s how many are allowed during a vaginal delivery.
