I’m sorry I just have to say it - the little mermaid has always been my favorite movie ever. I’ve watched it too many times from when I was young to just last week. Now I don’t even want to watch the live action because of the casting. Let me just say that I am a woman of color. This isn’t about racism. This is about doing justice to the character. If Mulan or Tiana was cast as a white person, everyone would be appalled. The real racism is that society is normalizing the idea that it is okay to drag on white people, and that they have no right to be proud of their race/culture. That’s the real racism. I thought we were aiming for equality?

Never did I say that Halle will do a bad job. I’m sure her performance will be great - but that’s not the point.
