Genetic testing.
I am seeing a lot of news articles and such about genetic testing and how unreliable the tests are. It can likely lead to people aborting babies because they are at risk for certain genetic disorders.
Looking at these tests and how they work, I feel like people just aren't understanding the math involved in these tests.
A normal/low risk result is 1/10000 or a .01% chance of the baby having said disorder.
A moderate risk is 1/206 or a 4.8% chance.
High risk is 1/6 (or higher even) which is a 16.7% chance.
Many people are claiming false positives on this test, but the test doesn't even say for certain either way. It shows the chance the baby could have it. A 16% chance the baby could have it, is also an 84% chance the baby doesn't have it.
I guess I just feel there is a lot of miseducation on these tests which can lead to abortions.
