What is anatomy scan?

So I have my 20 week ultrasound this Friday and it’s called the anatomy scan but what exactly does that mean? I’m not finding out so I’m just confused haha

The anatomy scan is a level 2 ultrasound, which is typically performed between 18 and 22 weeks. Other than finding out the sex of your baby (if you want to know), the ultrasound technician will be taking many measurements of your baby. They will be assessing the baby’s brain, heart, face and spine for abnormalities. They will also access mother by looking at the placenta and umbilical cord.  Mine is next week. Good luck!! 💜

they measure everything for the baby, there head, feet, hands, theres bones shoulder to elbow, elbow to wrist, hip to knee, knee to ankle, the belly, the heart, look at the nose/lips, they look at the kidneys and bladder, identify gender. everything!

They measure all the parts, arms , legs, skull .. to make sure it's all well. They even check for cleft lip and blood flow through the heart.
