It's purely cosmetic. It can cause something like 36%loss of sensation for them. My husband is VERY against circumsicion. Boys are born with foreskin for a reason...etc.

Our reason is not the norm, I'll give you that! My husband's tribe in Kenya has cultural norms for circumcising boys when "they are initiated" at 13 y/o. We want our children to be able to participate in any cultural traditions that they feel add to or help build their Kenyan-American identity. While no one from the family is forcing us to do it one way or the other, we decided that it was an important enough rite that we want to give our son the option of participating, if he chooses. If he doesnt want to do any of it, then we will cross that bridge in 13 years. Its not a normal reason, but i am glad we could decide on our own for our own bi-cultural family.

After much confusion and just not knowing what the right choice is or not we decided it's not our decision, we'll support his choice in the future. We don't judge anyone else's decision, it's a tough one!!

It’s completely unnecessary and there is actually more risk of complications than most people realize. Because there is no standardized definition or guidelines for doctors to report what is considered a complication, or when it happens, the numbers that are being reported by pro-circumcision groups are suspected to be extremely inaccurate. Some doctors state complications may actually be as high as 10%. The health “benefits” of it have also been completely over stated. Why subject your baby to that amount of pain and risk for cosmetic reasons? 
Thankfully in Canada it’s popularity continues to decline and now there are only about 30% of baby boys being done, in some provinces it’s as low as only 12%.

I let my husband decide however I work in dermatology and the cases that I’ve seen I am happy he wants to circumcise the boy. While most men have no issues from being uncircumcised those who do can be quite painful and hard to heal from. I’ve seen a lot of cases of different infections so it just seems easier maintenance-wise for the little guy when he’s older.

Definitely not. It’s cruel and there’s really no good reason to do it.

I did with my first son and it did not heal correctly and he will have to have corrective surgery later on in life. I still feel guilty for making that decision and it is not one I would make again. Not worth the risk.
