So I’m 17 and I got my first job this week. I thought it was going really well. I’m waitressing for a pub and I’m been trying my very hardest to do everything perfect. I was also really enjoying it. I won’t stop moving till the end of shift, cleaning tables etc because I’m the only waitress and another two colleagues work at the bar. Well today I was about to walk into the kitchen when I overheard the cook say “she’s fucking useless she is”. I was really taken aback and hurt by this comment so I walked away to calm myself down. This is probably just a rant but I needed to let it out. I didn’t think it was fair for her to say that, as I know I’m doing the best I can and I’m very polite and confident. Obviously I can’t carry many plates at a time because I don’t want to drop any. I ignored the comment. After lunch things settled down I finally got a minute to sit down and have a drink. The cook the comes up behind and says “you shouldn’t be sitting down, there’s washing up to do in there you’re lazy” so I was “sure okay I’ll go see if anyone needed help” but I probably said it in a bit of an annoyed voice and she said “that’s not the attitude to have you’re rude”. I have to work with tomorrow again and I don’t know how to go about it. I was really hurt and now I feel like I wasn’t doing good enough. I don’t understand why she is being like that with me and all I want to is avoid her :(
