When I was a kid my brother and I got lice from school. The school nurse recommended mayonnaise.
Seriously. I think my mom said it suffocates them. You just glob it on. Very thick. as thick as you can get it without it dripping off. Your head will be heavy. Then wrap tinfoil around it. And I'd suggest a bag around that because it seaps through a bit. I'm not sure how long we sat there for because I was young and it seemed like forever... But I'd guess an hour or 2. your head will feel so hot by the end. Then wash it out with your regular sfhampoo and conditioner. And comb through for the dead larva and their eggs. That's the important part. Making sure you pick everything out of the hair.

We only had to do it once. My mom threw some things away but a good majority of it, she just washed. I know she didn't buy a special detergent but I'm not sure if she had to add something to make sure it was lice free.
