If the test is negative when it hits 5 min mark then it’s negative after the time it give you a greyish line pops up called an Evap line a lot of people mistake it for a positive line

If it’s gray its an evap, if it has some type of color test again in 2-3 days, it SHOULD be darker by then & you’ll know for sure. 
With my first pregnancy,  I looked at my test an hour later & it was postivie, i just took it too early so it took longer for the test to pick it up. I took another two days later & it showed up within the time frame.
