It really depends. If it's friends going out to eat or movies or something each pays their own. If it's family or someone close inviting you to dinner or something they should pay, but first offer to pay for yourself.

If I invite someone out to eat or so something then I pay. If they invite me out then I expect them to do the same but I would still offer to pay, but that’s just me trying to be polite.

I invite people to go eat with me all the time. I’m not paying, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s weird to assume people would pay for you if it’s not a date. And even on a date, bring money just in case.
