Gag advice?

I bought a ball gag recently and it was fun except I started choking on my own saliva because I couldn’t swallow properly and that turned my boyfriend waaaaay off. Also my mouth is torn up from the rough plastic. Are there cloth alternatives or something? We like the gagging aspect of me not being able to speak and it muffling me, but the choking and sore mouth are an issue. Thanks!
