Umbilical Cord Smell??

I'm starting to get concerned that my baby's umbilical cord smells. It isn't red or inflamed but it kind of smells is this normal??

My son's smelled disgusting! Luckily it fell off & all is well. But I could smell that gross thing through his onesies!

Umbilical cords are disgusting. It’s basically rotting flesh. It’s normal for it to smell.
As long as it’s not seeping pus, red around the area, or hot to touch, then it’s more than likely just fine.
