Any tips?

So i started depo vera in june and missed my period, no biggie, but these last two weeks i’ve been bleeding and it still hasn’t stopped. It’s not like a period some days it’s barely anything then others it’s enough for a pad but it just won’t stop. Did this happen to anybody else and do you have any tips to make it stop?

Yes it’s completely normal and there is no way to make it stop unless you get off the shot and let your body readjust or keep getting the shot to let it adjust to the added hormones. I bled for a month straight on the shot and some days it would be a normal flow for me and others it would be spotting. After getting my second shot I haven’t bled yet at all. I’ve had some super light spotting I’ve noticed after using the bathroom but not anything to where I needed to use a pad or tampon. You’re going to miss periods and bleed for a while but eventually your body will adjust and you will lose your period all together

That’s completely normal with depo. Progestin only methods like depo are most known known for causing irregular bleeding/spotting patterns. That can include longer time frames with or without bleeding, random bleeding, or frequent bleeding, at any given time. And, such irregular bleeding is especially common during the first 3-6 months. Then only way to try & stop the bleeding is to talk to ur doctor about going on a low dose combination birth control pill in addition to the shot. That said, since u just started the shot, they may want to try & wait it out. But, u could still ask.

Your hormones are all out of whack so it’ll stop on it’s own. I stopped having a period from 15-18 years old when I was on it. I didn’t get a period until I was 20 years old. (I’m 23 now) and so you can either stop the shot or just wait it out.

I was on depo for a few months last year and experienced the same thing. I would get my period once out of the 3 months and it would last around 2 weeks and be pretty heavy throughout that time.
