We aren't getting our kid a phone until he has a job and can afford to help pay for it. I guess I'm old school in that sense. 🤷

What 4 year old needs a real phone?? Whose leaving their 4 year old without an adult!?? 😲 My kids can have a phone when they get their license. It will have limited texts and minutes. And no internet. Emergency only. I didn't have a phone until I was almost 18. And I paid for it myself.

I won’t be getting mine a phone until she can drive. There is absolutely no reason they’d need one until then.

I will when I feel my kid is responsible enough for one. And it’ll be very limited to what they can do on it. Basically just for calling/texting me, dad and family members. I didn’t get a cell phone till I was 18 and it was a chunky Nokia with a set amount of minutes each month. No internet and I could play snake lol so if I can survive 18 years without a phone so can my child.

Definitely 13-14.. Youngest I’ll go is 12 and that’s only if she’s in some kind of sports or something. I got my first phone at 10 and it was a flip phone (not that there were many other options at that time😂) and the only reason I had it was to call my parents because I was a dancer and would have long/ late practices. I got my first smartphone when I was around 15 and I paid for it myself.

My son WILL NOT get a phone until he can pay for it himself.

I will not be getting my daughter one until she is much older, maybe 14 when she goes to HS and might NEED it (she is currently 9) Seeing my sister who has had a phone since the age of 9 and now 11 has opened my eyes even more. I always said I wouldn’t get my daughter a phone anytime soon but just seeing the way my sister is around her phone just makes me think about it even more. She has a Tik Tok, Snapchat, etc social media, I’ve checked her phone and have found inappropriate videos on YouTube for a girl her age, I have seen some texts that are also inappropriate and my mom has no idea about any of this. She is also on her phone 24/7 and prefers to be on it than to play, she does not like to play ball, run or have fun because of that damn phone! My daughter in on softball, loves to ride her bike and is very athletic. I want to keep it that way and having a phone is just not a good idea in my opinion. When the time comes I will make sure I check her phone. Yes I will check her phone because she is my daughter and it is my job to keep her safe

My oldest is 9 he be getting one when starts going out alone with his friends 12-13.. he’s got a iPad to FaceTime his mates but he don’t need a phone as I don’t let him play out in the streets.
