My mom is flying (domestically) from one city to another, with a layover in between. He first flight is one airline and the second flight is another airline.

Will she have to carry her luggage around the airport for her 5 hour layover? Or will the airport just take care of bringing her bags to her next flight?

** I realize normally you don’t need to worry about checked suitcases during layovers, but my question is: is it different because she’s flying two separate airlines for the two separate flights?

A) she’ll have to carry her own (checked) suitcases around the airport during the layover

B) she won’t have to worry about her bags (even though she’s flying two separate airlines), they’ll just end up at the destination.
