Is your hairstylist also your thearapist?

Every time I go get my hair done I really don’t know what to talk about, I do have social anxiety. Lol but I just think surely this woman doesn’t wanna hear my problems or care about anything in my life.. I’m so awka-awkward

All my hair stylist does is gossip about other people. I wouldn’t tell her anything personal knowing how big her mouth is

I am my own hairstylist, and my own therapist lol
In all seriousness, we were taught in cosmetology school that you are a "therapist" in peoples lives and to make a connection, be there for people, let them vent, etc. One thing i was always taught is not to turn it into gossip,never speak about clients with other clients.

I'm the weirdo who hardly talks while getting my hair done. I explain what I want and give feedback along the way if necessary and that's it, that's how I prefer it. Same when I get my nails done.

As a hair stylist I feel I am many peoples therapist. Lol I provide a private safe space where I make sure to listen well. I’m sure many hair stylists just love to talk gossip but I’m a little more shy and don’t like to gossip so I think people tend to feel comfortable opening up to me. For the most part I love that my clients trust me so much! But some days it is very draining! 😊

I don’t talk to my hairstylist much. I don’t like gossiping and I just don’t know what to talk about. I usually just read a book or work while I’m there.
