Does your SO watch your child(ren) so you can do things by yourself occasionally?

My SO drives me nuts. He absolutely hates watching our son unless I have to work. Which makes no sense to me, because hes his son too. I recently got a gym membership but he gets annoyed if I ask him if I can go for an hour. Im trying to go 3x a week for an hour to start. Is asking him to watch OUR son for 3-4 hours a week so I can have some ME time too much to ask? Ive been seriously slacking because I dread asking him. Lately Ive been going after work because I work until 9pm so our son is sleeping or almost sleeping but he still gets annoyed with that.

You shouldnt have to ask. Just say you are going out and you cant take the baby I need you to watch him. 
You dont need his permission to watch a child he created.

My SO (who isn't the biological father of my children) watches my kids so I can have me time. I think its beyond sad that your SO won't watch his own child for you to have your own time.

I have been able to go out with my friends and even take an out of state trip this past Memorial Day weekend because my husband watches our daughter. When I’m tell him that I’m going out with friends, I’m not asking him for permission to watch our daughter, it’s more like to make sure he doesn’t have plans. When our daughter was getting over a stomach bug, I told my husband I cancelled lunch with a friend.. you know what he said “just go, I’ll watch our daughter; that’s your friend!”
We both work, he gets up at the ass crack of dawn M-F and commutes at least an hour to work (so basically 2 hours to and from)... I work way later in the day and less hours then him and yet he doesn’t hesitate to take over.
I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad, I’m telling you if we were friends, my husband would have a little talk with your husband and tell him to man the hell up.

Are you watching him 4 hours a week so he can go do what he wants? If so, yes he should support you.

I just tell him husband I'm going. But I rarely do because I love being with my son, but if I wanted to go shopping or hang out with my friends for a few hours, he has no problem being with our son, cuz you like you said he's also a parent

I don’t ask my husband he does it because he is her parent you shouldn’t have to ask your husband to parent his child.
