What would you do? Any traveling tips?

My husband and I are going to visit family at the end of August with our little girl who will be 14 weeks at the time. We have two options 1) fly for $800 with a one hour flight, 1.5 hour layover, and then a 2 hour flight 2) drive for 10 hours splitting it between two days. What do you all think we should do and any tips for either?

Honestly I would just drive. It's a lot cheaper and honestly probably a little more relaxing. I dont know how well your babe does but I did a 27 hour road trip with no over night stay with my little one when he was only 4 weeks old and it was pretty seamless. We stopped every three hours for about 30-45 minutes to feed,stretch out,let the dogs run loose. Biggest thing was I had a travel sized co sleeper so I could change him in it, and let him lay in to stretch out. Also I recommend bringing toys to entertain him with since hes now at the age for a little more entertainment.

🤷🏼‍♀️ We did a five hour drive a couple weeks ago and he did okay, but it slowed us down and ended up taking closer to 7 hours. The last hour or so one of us had to ride in the back to keep him from losing it. We’re going to Mexico the first week of August and we opted to fly rather than try an 18 hour drive. I just couldn’t imagine making him sit in his car seat for so long. 🤷🏼‍♀️ To me it’s worth the money.

I would drive, that way you are not limited on what you can pack for your trip, and I think it would be easier to tend to your baby. You can stop whenever needed to feed/change baby. I took my baby to visit her grandpa in CO and that was an 11 hour drive. We were able to make the drive in one day. It wasn’t too bad honestly.

I think it totally depends on your baby, my first I drove from Colorado to NY just me and him and he did fine. But my second absolutely hates the car and screams the whole ride so I’d never take him on a long drive. And I flew with my first about an 8 hour flight NY-CO and it was fine.

I just got back from a month trip. It was 14 hours each way driving. My son did wonderful both trips. I know your baby would be a little older but they should be fine driving. Not sure if I would want all the recycled air from a plane and airport just for the extra convenience.

Depends on your baby. My first haaated the car and I never would’ve driven that far with him. My second hates his infant seat so we’d have to take the convertible. I flew with my first when he was 16 months and it was pretty easy.
