First ultrasound at 6 and then not again until 12?

Hi! I just went to the doctor yesterday. I went as soon as I found out I was pregnant (1st baby and I'm 32) and I had my first ultrasound which showed only the sac, no baby yet. She measured at 6 weeks.

They said we didn't need another appointment for another 6 weeks at week 12.  I may be a little paranoid about miscarriage but it seems like a long time to go before seeing a baby ultrasound to put my mind at ease. Is this just first timer's nerves?

With my first pregnancy I didn't get an ultrasound until 18 weeks. I did get one more after that because they were afraid my cervix was short and could possibly go into preterm labor. But everything was fine. 
Unless they think there is a problem they don't do many ultrasound.

That's actually pretty common time to have one I had my first at 9 weeks

I'm 11 weeks today and won't have my first ultrasound until tomorrow. It's been long, but also kinda less worrying because when I do see my baby, I will be able to see more and hear a heartbeat clearly!

I got my first ultrasound at 6 weeks 3 days, my second one today at 9 weeks and 3 days, and I come back on the 27th of this month at 12 weeks and 3 days for another one.

I don't get my first ultrasound until 12 weeks and here I am at 7 weeks 4 days not wanting to wait but the doctor said you can't see much at this point until the baby gets a little bigger.

Hi! We had our first ultrasound at 7 weeks where we could here the heartbeat. The next Will be at 12 weeks and then I think at 20 weeks, 25 weeks, 30 weeks and 35 weeks

I had my first us at 8w6d and my second at 12w4d ONLY because we opted to do the genetic testing, which requires an us. If we didn't, my next us appointment wouldn't have been till 19w6d, which is our scheduled anatomy scan and where we'll learn the gender. I had an appointment last week and it was just monthly checkup and she only listened to heartbeat.

It seems to depend on your Dr. I had the same ob with my 1st 2 kids and I didn't get 1 ultrasound until 20 weeks and only had 1 more after that about 32 weeks. I changed obs with my 3rd and 4th. And I had an ultrasound about 18 weeks with my 3rd again at 28 weeks and one at 30 to check on her because I was dialating early now with this one same ob I had one at 9 weeks one at 17 weeks and one at almost 27 weeks and was told to expect a couple more due to the fact that I already have a soft cervix while taking progesterone shots having gestational diabetes and preterm labor. So it depends on the doc and if your high risk.
