Did you cut off formula at 12 months?

Question

My son will be a year old in a couple days & his main food source is formula. I honestly don’t know how to just cut it off. I do feed him meals, snacks & he has a drink all the time if he feels thirsty. He don’t get full off the food tho, only the bottle. 😑🙄☹️ 
 We currently buy 14 cans a month. I need some tips. Husband says to just stop buying it and give him milk. But he honestly doesn’t eat enough food in my opinion so I don’t want him lacking nutrients..

I would slowly wean him off of it and onto milk. You can also look into nutrition shakes for young children to help fill in the gaps.

I plan on cutting it out in a few weeks when my daughter turns 1 but shes a great eater and only has formula before sleep and rarely finishes it.

We cut our son off cold turkey after he turned a year old, but he wasn't dependent on it and had a pretty good diet. With my daughter, we slowly weaned her off because she was the opposite and completely dependent on it.

I started milk at 11 months (drs permission) but I started by mixing half milk half formula. We decided to use all the formula we had left  so started half and half and then 3/4 milk 1/4 formula. Then eliminated one bottle/cup of formula all together (so ex if he got 4 bottles a day 3 had formula in them the other had just milk). And then eventually he was on one cup with the mix until our formula was gone. He was 14 months I believe

We stopped cold turkey at 12m and encouraged more foods. After 12m normal formula wont have the nutritional needs that they need, and toddler formula is a gimmick. 
My child loved his bottle / formula. At 11 months we decided we werent going to buy anymore formula after the large can we had, and we started mixing it with pea milk to introduce it. around 11.5 months we made it seem like more of a “treat” than a meal. He picked up on it pretty quick and was eating more at that point. We also made it a point to learn his favorites and have a few easy options available. 
On his birthday he helped us throw his bottles away and started using his big boy cups. He still sees milk as a treat, and drinks water through the day and eats like a garbage disposal 😂

I cut my baby off formula and on to milk started slowly weaning her to it at 11 months old per doctors instructions and increasing her snacks and meals. She eats when she tells me she is hungry. She hasnt lost weight and is highly active.

It took us forever to totally wean my son off of it, because he doesn’t really like plain milk. So for quite a while we were putting in just enough for taste. Then I started him on some flavored veggie powder (he alternates between chocolate and berry), so we don’t need it anymore, and I don’t have to worry on the days he’s a bit short on veggies.🤷🏼‍♀️

I started cutting back as we approached one year.... her bottles went from all formula... to half formula & half milk. Then we took away her afternoon bottle of formula. And slowly took away each feeding and replaced it with milk or water and real food. Luckily it worked well for my daughter.

You can start introducing milk. But not all at once. Like 1/4 to his bottle mixed. For like a week, then half and half. And so on. Thats how I introduce milk to my 3 oldest. At a year, they need that fat in there diet. My son actually was on some sort of formula, till 5 1/2. But he had stomach issues. It wasn’t formula you could buy at the store. It was delivered. My sisters daughter didn’t like milk. She put her on toddler formula. The infant formulas dont have the nutritional stuff, a one year old needs.
