Coconut oil for cradle cap = stinky baby!??

Anyone else notice that after they used coconut oil to treat cradle cap, their LO’s head started smelling horrible?  Like a mix between spit up and really strong soap?  Ugh it has been 2 days and it’s still there!  I’ve shampooed her twice since then!

I don't wash my daughter's hair every bathtime because she gets a bath every night. I wash it twice a week. I used olive oil and her brush to get rid of the cradle cap and she hasn't gotten it since

Yeeep! So we stopped using it for that reason. Sorry, but I want a good smelling baby lol that's one of the best things about babies! We switched to using cetaphil/baby oils.. but honestly we just started washing his hair only once a week and it went away on it's own. And he doesn't have a smelly head at all! 🤷‍♀️

I mixed some liquid aloe and coconut oil into baby shampoo to help my daughters cradle cap and it seems to be helping so much better than straight up oil on her head. I also wash her hair with a soft scrubby brush to make sure the skin flakes get washed off, too.

Coconut oils does that to some people. It doesn’t to me, as well. Some skin products will make your skin smell “sour.” It happens to my son with lavender lotions that are natural.
