Hope for mommas with a 4th degree tear

My daughter is about two weeks old now. My water broke spontaneously before going into labor. I was in labor for 24 hours. My epidural wasn’t great and I could still randomly feel pain. Anesthesiologists came by 3 times to give me more meds directly into my tube. I pushed for 3.5 hours. The nurse stopped me because I had reached the limit for what the allow for a “new mom”. The dr came in and I was given the option of c section or forceps. Because we have one of the best drs in the country, we moved forward with forceps. He did an amazing job and our daughter was out in 1 push. None of the drs or nurses we’ve seen since can believe they were used because his head has no signs of them.

All of this to say, I tore. Bad. I could feel the pressure of the many stitches going in and it was a very emotional experience. I would say my birth experience was traumatic and I was petrified to use the bathroom or even get out of bed.

Any mommas experiencing a tear like this. It gets better-I’m at the two week mark and I can actually walk around the house a little bit, I’m feeling more like myself and I’m not needing the pain meds. I am mostly taking them because they are anti inflammatory. I randomly have itching now and random pings of pain. I can feel the healing if that makes any sense.

Keep using all of the products though! Pads, sprays, stool softener, witch hazel pads etc. I bought earth mama spray and that has been great. I ordered extra ice packs like the hospital had because I went through the ones they provided quickly and felt like I needed more. Also, depends diapers and hospital undies are the best. Take care of yourself! I’ve had family at my home constantly. I feed my baby and only got up to use restroom.

It gets better!! I still of course have a ways to go with healing but know that you will turn a big corner as you reach 2 weeks. 💕
