I was just on Instagram and I came across a girl I lived with in college but haven’t spoken to in several years. Her feed looks like a movie. Perfect everything and she posts absolutely everything. She spent most of her time (while I lived with her) sitting in her room trying to take the perfect selfie in the window and staging things to post about.

I used to get annoyed but now I sort of feel sad for her and people like her. Why put so much effort into your Instagram feed to get online recognition? Why not put the phone down sometimes to enjoy the people here in your life and what’s around you? All that time spent portraying a perfect life when you should just be living it! I’m not against social media. I just wish so many people didn’t define their worth through it.
