Too biblical or ok?

This is NOT my comment or child’s name. 
I was just curious about how far is too far when choosing a biblical or religious name for a child. 
“I’m 21 weeks and I decided to name my baby boy messiah, my mother thinks it’s an offensive name towards the Christian religion. I thought it was more of an admirable name. Is it offensive to name him messiah ? I’m in love with the name and I truly don’t see anything wrong with it. Would it be wrong to name him that ?”
Well, what do you think or feel about this name?

That word isn’t necessarily exclusively Christian. It also means “a leader or savior of a particular group or cause.” That said, I’d be prepared for people to be assholes about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Messiah is a little much in my opinion. I'm not a fan. But to each their own! I wouldn't dislike someone for their name.

Much too much for my taste. I am Catholic and all my children have middle names from the Bible, but I would think something like that for a first name would be hard for a child to grow up with. Maybe tell her to save it for a middle name if she really likes it?

It definitely has a Christian connotation to it, but it doesn't solely refer to Christ. It would be like the name Savior. Definitely a Christian connotation (another title for Christ) but has other meanings as well. But people will definitely react poorly to it I'm sure.

Really interesting because I was talking to a teacher friend today who laughed about that very name (we were talking about odd names) because one of her students had that name and behaved “quite the opposite”

I feel like someone will be upset/offended by any name and I think its dumb. If she wants to name her kid that, it's her choice. I mean we have celebs that named their kids stupid ass shit like apple, jermagisty, pilot inspektor ect. If the kid grows up and hates it, they can have it changed

Well it’s like calling him Jesus. Is that why she thinks it’s offensive? Since there is only one Jesus?

I knew a few Mexicans named jesus and angel so I say it's like naming your child after someone famous or important if you like it roll with it I feel it's better than Hennessy vodka and other names just make sure if you name him that you believe in that and you bring him up to the best to honor that name and not just because it's cute it would be offensive if you anti Christian and name him that but that just my opinion
