does birth control make you miss your period?

S • mama to a babygirl 💗 expecting baby #2 in May 💞

i’m 12 weeks postpartum and i’ve missed my second postpartum period. when i went for my 6 week checkup with my OB she prescribed me birth control pills (Azurette) and told me to start them on the first day of my next period. well i got my period the next day and started the BC. my period lasted for a week, then almost a week later i started spotting and from then on i spotted for the rest of the month. then the day i started my new BC pack, the bleeding just stopped all of a sudden. my period is now a week late. i’m not pregnant, i’ve taken pregnancy tests and they were all negative. with my daughter i got my first BFP a week before my expected period, so i know if i were pregnant it would’ve shown up on a test by now.

anyway, is it normal for birth control to make your period late, or make you skip a period? i thought birth control was supposed to help regulate your cycle. i have never in my life missed a period, aside from when i was pregnant. when will my period come?
