To chart/test when on clomid

First round of clomid and been charting and testing every day the whole time. I didnt think I ovulated based on my chart results, so being little concerned I called the doctor to see if it was normal. (I usually dont ovulate until day 30 and was under the impression clomid would make me ovulate between day 10-18. Currently on day 28) when talking to the doctor and telling her the symptoms she said not to test or chart and just follow the instructions I was given and to test for pregnancy on Tuesday. Was wondering what everyone else does and what works. Input please!!
