Home Birth??

Question

Has anyone done a home birth? I'd love to hear your experience with it and why you would or wouldn't recommend it, as my husband and I have been considering it!

I have had 2 uncomplicated and wonderful home births, including my first! Our third is due December and we have no reason to think she will be born anywhere else but home. 
I wanted to be free to have my babies how I wanted. I’ve never liked hospitals and I’ve never liked the clinical feel of OB offices and how my state handles birth in general. 
I believe that pregnancy and birth is something natural that happens and I wanted to be able to be a part of that. And to be honest, see if I could do it. It was very much a right of passage for me into motherhood!
Plus, my midwife will have birthed all 3 (hopefully 4 one day) of my babies. Knows me, my family and the way I have kids that I trust her completely. I know she will do what needs to be done to take care of the both of us and if that means shizzzz goes sideways and we need a hospital, getting me there. But on a side note she’s never had a momma or baby transported medical emergencies in her 20+ years except twice. A momma gave up on a home birth and another mommas baby was breech and the poor thing was going on 36 hrs of no progress and was exhausted. 
All that said, water birth if you can, helps with contractions and makes clean up way easier, have a doula (trust me on that 😂), and make affirmations! I love making mine. They’ve changed with each baby! Also, a home environment is so much more relaxed and welcoming and once baby is here you’re home where your comfortable and can settle in right away.

I would love to and ppl do it all the time . I wish mine would slide out at home #baby5. I see ppl having babies in Uber and while driving so it’s really possible

I never have and wouldn't. So much can go wrong during a birth that I'd prefer to be at a hospital. Home birth isn't worth the risk for me. 
My 1st baby ended up with the cord wrapped around her neck and heart rate dropping to nearly stopping with every contraction and I ended up having to have an emergency C-section. If I would have been at home, she she would have died.

I’d do it! I chose a birth center delivery this time and it was wonderfully uncomplicated. If I’m ever pregnant again and we have a house with a big tub, I’d absolutely birth at home.

I wouldnt. Too many things can go wrong and every second counts when it comes to saving your or your baby's life. Even a textbook perfect pregnancy can turn south during delivery in a matter of seconds.

One of my biggest fears when I was pregnant was a home birth. My first came in 2.5hr so we expected #2 to come faster and maybe at home. We got to the hospital a half-hour before he was born. Both of my babies had dangerously low heart rates during pushing with one needing the vacuum, and the other they told my SO if I didn’t get him out with my last push they were going to consider an emergency c-section. I don’t know what would’ve happened at home with a sudden low HR and me unable to get him out alone.
