Dad's time off work

I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on this matter.

My partner obviously wants to come to our first scan although we cannot afford for him to take the time off to come with me, as the law is that men do not get paid to have this time off. It's heartbreaking for me and it's heartbreaking for him not to see his baby for the first time.

he can't take it off as a holiday as he gets very little holidays throughout the year, we are taking our other little one away in the summer, and he has to take holiday days off for Christmas, this Leaves him no time off to come to any of my appointments.

I understand that some appointments I can attend on my own without him but we are together and I would like him to see the baby for the first time as much as I do.

does anybody else have any thoughts on this or feel like this is unfair on our dad's?!?
