Nipple shields

Do any of you ladies use nipple shields to breast feed? I have my baby a week ago and I’ve been breast feeding and I’m pretty sure she’s latching On correctly because she’s fully on the Areola but my nipples take turns being sooooo sore that I can’t breast feed with them. I have to pump until it heals. Every other day it’s a new nipple. Just wondering how people feel about or like nipple shields. Do they make it harder for baby to feed??? Thanks!!!!!
