Horse person here. In my experience horses take a back seat until children are at least 4 or 5. Caring for horses you don't have time to ride is expensive and not good for the horse unless it's retired due to health issues (which makes them even more expensive.) Even if you have your own land to keep them on, there are still vet bills, farrier bills, hay bills, grain bills, electricity to run stock tank heaters in winter and possibly fans in summer. Plus they need attention every day and you will have your hands so full taking care of your little one, you'll be lucky to get in a shower every few days even without horses. I get it. I love horses too. But unless you're wealthy enough to hire help with the horses and a nanny, I would wait until your child and possible future children are past toddlerhood.
adopting horses
Hi everyone xx
So I’m 18w4d pregnant and I grew up without a horse of my own until I was older. I have 2 horses available for me to buy however I’m worried they won’t get enough affection from me after my baby is born but I want my baby to grow up around horses.. I hope that makes sense.
I don’t know what to do at this point because it would mean so much to me.
Any advice would be amazing please xx
