Help- how to prep for glucose test??

I have my glucose test later today but lost the instructions my doctor gave me. I think they said to not each anything (or much) within two hours of my appointment? Does that sound right? I realize different doctors give different instructions for preparation, I just don’t want to totally blow it and have to make a new appointment. Advice needed!

I had mine last week and passed. 🙌 I had some scrambled eggs in the morning and some whole grain toast, drank only water...no juice or coffee w creamer, probably due to sugars. (I sometimes have a small cup.) My NP actually told me it’s fine to eat, just stick to simple, low sugar/carb foods. Hope that helps!

I had mine today (UK) and wasn't meant to have anything other than water from 8.30pm the night before!

I only did the one hour. I was told not to fast. At 5:30ish am I ate 1 egg drank like 25oz or so of water. At 7am I drank the glucola. At 8am (it was 7:54) they drew my blood. I passed out as I always do, but I passed the test so I was thankful.

mine has us fast that’s why i have my appointment at 8am so i can eat asap nothing besides water past 12am

Usually u shouldn’t eat or drink 8 hours before. I can drink a little water but that’s all

Call the office and see what they want you to do.  Some places have different instructions than others.  Some want you to fast, mine wanted me to eat a high protein meal 2 hours before the sugar load.

You can eat and drink normally but try to stick to high protein and low sugar. You drink it within 5 mins then nothing to eat or drink for an hour then they will draw your blood.

I took my test in the morning so I just fasted but my doctor also instructed not to eat anything within 2 hours of taking the test (it’s a walk in so they assume ppl take it when they can) and only water to drink.

If it’s just the screening (the one hour test) there is no prep. My doctor instructed me to eat and drink normally. After you drink the glucose, you can’t have anything, though. There should be one blood draw and no fasting (unless your office somehow does it differently). Good luck!
