Retrieval/fertilization letdown

Kristin

8/5 UPDATE**

My RE called today and we lost all except one embryo that made it to the blast stage. She recommended another retrieval but unfortunately the first retrieval and meds alone used up over half of our infertility allowance (30k lifetime max) that my insurance covers, so we’ve sent it for PGS (because I want to do everything possible) and are just throwing a “Hail Mary” and fingers crossed everything’s fine and we can just do our frozen transfer soon! We find out the results hopefully within a week!

8/1 UPDATE**** they called today for our day 3 update and said that 2 of the “polar bodies” ones have fertilized as well... so in total we have 5, but those two are moving at a much slower pace... they told us these are the grades so far

2cell/grade 3

3cell/grade 3

3cell/grade 3

2cell/grade 2

6cell/grade 3

Not sure if I should get my hopes up but I’ll get my next update Saturday!

7/30.: So we had our retrieval yesterday and were so excited when they got 20 eggs!!!!

I get the update today that they could only try to fertilize 7 and that as of today only 3 are fertilized and the other 4 have “polar bodies”. Anyone have any success with embryos that had a slower fertilization???

We still have to get to day 3 and 5 and through PGS testing... I just feel like I’ve completely lost hope at this point. We were hoping to be able to freeze enough to try and have another baby down the road but this is the only

round my insurance covers. :(

I feel like I’ve tried to do everything right yet never get a good outcome.
