Baby is 7 weeks and hubby is still on paternity leave. 3-4 times through maternity leave he has left for a half day or full day to go play golf or do things with friends while I stay at home and take care of baby. Would you be upset/irritated?

It depends have you asked him to watch the kids while you go out, and has he said no? 
If not then no. I would say for 7 weeks, him going out for an afternoon 3-4 times is nothing. 
My husband was working and would make plans with his friends for the kids bedtime every night, because I would sleep too . He knew he had to put the kids to bed or I would be livid. 
For a couple weeks he would leave everyday for quite a while to his friends, but he would take our toddler to give me a break so i could focus on baby.

I say no, but only if you are also getting some “you” time, however you spend it.

My stance on golf is that I would rather him go on his days off and not go golfing then go to work. If he is going to be gone I want him home some of the day. 5 hours of golf and 8 hours of work is not a lot of baby time. If he really wants to miss out on the best days of his life then it's his loss. Newborns are only this small for so long.
