Have you introduced a dummy/pacifier yet?

Just wondering when normally introduce a dummy.

They told us no paci for I think 4 weeks since I’m breastfeeding.  But real quick we were like nope, can’t do this. We tried it, and it hasn’t effected his latch or feeding, so yes we use it when he’ll take it.

My daughter had jaundice out of the womb and we weren’t allowed to comfort her since she had to stay under the blue lights as much as possible. 
The nurse provided us with a soothie pacifier in case we needed to calm her down. We were really hesitant at first because of nipple confusion/skipped feedings/etc... but watching her cry non-stop without being able to hold her was not an option as well. 
She’s 4-weeks now & occasionally uses the soothie to calm her down for the start of car rides and doctors appointments. No issues with nipple confusion and I make sure she’s fed and full before using the pacifier to soothe her.

If you’re breastfeeding it’s recommended that you don’t use them for at least 4 weeks while you get established. 
I have decided that I don’t want to give my baby one in any case but each to their own.

I gave my daughter one the night she was born. It hasn't affected breastfeeding at all for us

I stupidly gave my son one day two and I struggled to breastfeed for two days. He is finally back latching correctly but those two days were hell considering that I am strictly breastfeeding

I just started giving my daughter one this week (she’s 3 weeks today) I was trying to wait a full month since I’m breastfeeding but she was using me as a paci for hours. For my own sanity we tried it. Luckily she still nurses great and we only give it to her after she’s had a good feeding and is wanting to suck still.

My son kept looking for something to suck on, but he wouldn’t drink the formula from his bottle and if he did, he would spit it up. That’s when I knew he was just wanting to suck. I introduced it around one week old. He loves it! The only one he uses is Dr. Browns because it’s the same nipple as his bottles. 😊

Introduced one at 3.5 weeks. She is exclusively breastfed and was using me as a pacifier, either nipple (milk would left down, she would unlatch and I would be engorged) or she would use my pinkie. She likes mam brand. We use it to soothe her before her long afternoon nap and at bedtime. She had gained 1 pound when we went for her 2 week check up and her feeding schedule has stayed consistent and she still wakes for feedings as she will spit out the pacifier once she gets into a deep sleep.

They say if breastfeeding to wait to introduce it so the baby doesn’t get confused but I breastfeed and gave my baby one since day one and he’s fine. I only gave him one tho bc it keeps airways open and reduces the risk of SIDS

Gave my baby one on our second day, wasn't going to but she loves to suck and is great at breastfeeding, haven't had any issues
