Self-weaning?

Question

I normally nurse my 14 month old to bed. 
He pretty much only nurses first thing in the morning and at night for bed. Sometimes randomly throughout the day. The only time he’s been consistently nursing is at night for bed. 
Tonight, he latched for a few seconds, unlatched, and took his paci instead. 
This is the first night he’s done this. 
Is he self-weaning? 
Should I continue to try to nurse him?

He could be! My first child weaning himself at 13mo and did something similar. He latched for a minute and then rolled over and went to sleep on his own. I offered the next night and he did the same. The third night I offered and he didn't take it, just rolled over and went to bed!

It depends on how long you’d like to nurse. Sigh my first two kids, my goal was a year. Then my goal was two years...  
If you’re ready for baby to possibly wean, I’d take the “don’t offer, don’t refuse” method. If he asks, nurse him, but don’t offer it to him. He may wean, or he may keep asking for it. 
If you’re not ready, then continue offering morning and night and any other time.

I wouldn't offer but don't deny if he asks. My 17 month old still nurses every 4-5, for every nap, and bedtime, and she still nurses throughout the night.
