Size 0 midwife told me to diet & exercise at 34 weeks 😒

Marie

I had the worst appointment today out of my whole pregnancy. I have Kaiser insurance so it’s common to see different doctors at each appointment. I specifically requested a doctor over a midwife, because I’m high risk for multiple issues. Anyway, today I had a midwife, I’m thinking it’s just Kaiser, but 2 midwives out of the 5 doctors I have seen have left me in tears or utter frustration.

I started this pregnancy overweight. So, protocol is I should only gain 15-20 lbs. This is my 4th. My other 3 I’ve always gained 30-35lbs. Nothing crazy! I am 34 weeks. Today, the midwife said because I was at 24 lbs. I need to diet and exercise, and no more carbs. I don’t have gestational diabetes, btw. And my blood pressure is that of a marathon runner! Always spot on! All of my babies have been born 2-3 weeks early naturally. So, if this one is similar, with the natural 1 lb a week (which is what she said I was achieving) in the 3rd trimester, I’m on track with my previous pregnancies. Add to that she was literally itty bitty wearing a short skirt and heels, I was a total hormonal mess afterwards 🤦‍♀️. My husband assured me that we should just keep doing what we’ve been doing and not stress in these last few weeks. We eat relatively healthy, hardly ever eat out. I just needed to vent. She has been the ONLY medical professional to push this or even mention my weight! Ugh! I thought I was gonna make it free and clear of feeling guilty about my weight this pregnancy. I’ve always dreaded going to the doctor for this reason and thought I was lucky this pregnancy. I finally felt comfortable going to my appointments. 😞

Side note: I do plan on being more intentional about my portions and I’m not going to just binge on junk food, but it sucks because I’ve eaten pretty healthy this entire pregnancy. Just discouraged. 👎 Thanks for listening to my pitty party! 😜😋
