Can you ask to be induced?

I am almost 39 weeks and as of my 38 week apt have made no progress. Only 1cm but closed and tight at other end of cervix. I am measuring ahead a week and have already been told he’s a good 7 pounds. I’m jw if at my 39 week apt I can be like hey induce me at 40 weeks? Because like everyone else I do not want to go over my due date and have a huge baby and risk a possible c section.

You can but if you are not dilated and effaced at the start of the c section, you're at higher risk of ending up in a c section than having a bigger baby. I have 4 kids all high risk births, 2 inductions successful but 2 failed because I wasn't progressed enough at the onset (but in my case, waiting wasn't an option)

I get what your saying , it can be a strong struggle to wait and see when your baby decides to come and in some cases women have to be induced because baby never makes their appearance on their own but like PP said if your cervix isnt favorable your risking a failed induction and have a higher risk for a c section .. i would definitely talk to your doctor about your options and what they medically suggest for the health of your baby and yourself .. best of luck to you !

Im 38 weeks tomorrow and i am schedule my induction for next Saturday the 10th when i am 39 weeks. Cant wait! I am not dilating but doctor told me the chances of c section are low during that week. Either way i just want a healthy baby.

My doctor told me that she can induce without medical reasoning once we hit 39 weeks. So today at 38 and 4 I got one scheduled for the 7th.

Not my office. They scheduled my induction for 41+3.

My doctor does inductions by request starting at 39 weeks. Doesn't hurt to ask.
