Beach or lake?

Question

FTM here so sorry if this sound stupid but in just trying to be informed and keep my baby safe.
Has anyone taken their babies to the beach or lake and put them in the water yet? Is it safe for them this young? And what sun screen do you use? 
I have been like a hermit crab and I have not really taken my 3 month old out of the house yet because I’m worried for something bad to happen to him since he’s still so young.

They say don’t use sunscreen on them til they’re 6 months old.. their skin is way too new for those chemicals. I took my LO in the pool but it was a saltwater one.. it was an overcast day but I only had in her for a few minutes then got her out of the sun. It’s hard to say if the lake or ocean would be better for little one.. lakes can have bacteria but the ocean could be tough on bubs skin. Wherever you take baby.. just make sure they’re as covered as possible with a hat and as much lightweight clothing as possible ☺️

Unfortunately you can't put sunscreen on a baby until 6 months - even says that on the "baby" sunscreen :( my in laws live on a lake so I have been desperate to get him in the water. I would just use long sleeve swim shirts, sun hats, and try to keep them out of the sun as much as possible. As far as which water to put them in, I honestly have no advice. My goal was to wait until he at least got his first round of shots at 2 months, but still have yet to actually put him in the water 😞

Took my lo to the lake at 2 months old. He had a rash guard on and we used the baby 50 spf on his legs and was just fine. He got in and loved it. Just take a fan if you can and an umbrella. Check his skin periodically to see if hes getting a heat rash.
