How do I talk to him about a ring?!

My SO is very interested in what kind of ring I want. Which don't get me wrong is great! However, I know I have expensive tastes and don't want to pressure him into something he can't afford. I want a nice ring and always dreamed of having one that gets noticed, because I constantly notice other women's rings. I know what I want but I don't know the words to explain it and I get anxious when we tried to take me to a jewelry store or show me online. Help?

I think being told or walking him around takes the romance out of the whole thing. It would not have been special for me if I told my husband  what I wanted, to know he took the time to pick something just for me was everything. Either way when the day comes for you I hope you love what you get ❤️

I told my husband what type of ring I wanted (Princess cut with a halo of diamonds around it and a thin band) and he went from there. I love that he picked it out all himself… I'm absolutely in love with my ring! It's more than I ever expected. We got engaged 12/30/13 (married 7/12/14) and I still stare at my hand at least five times a day. I would just be honest with him and tell him what kind of ring you love and have always hoped for but that you don't want him to break his bank. Ultimately it's up to him if he wants to spend more than his allowance though. Jewelry stores always have deals going on throughout the year and most do interest free payment plans. My engagement ring was originally a little over $6000 and wedding band was about $1400 but he got them both for about half price because of a sale.

I told my husband what I expected. Princess cut. At least half a karat diamond. No solitaire. Thick wedding band (I think I have manly fingers). He picked out the entire thing, and I know it was super affordable compared to prices I've seen. I love my ring.

Excuse the dirty ring, it's time to go to the jewlers for a cleaning. 😉

Same w us. One day we drove past Jared and I jokingly said, hey wanna go learn about diamonds?! And he turned right in there! I think he was relieved. He got my ring from a private jeweler but we learned alot at Jared about the 4 C's and I tried some on and he took mental note of my reaction. He ended up taking the princess cut design I liked and made his own w the jeweler .. I love it so much and can't wait to pass it on to my grandkids someday

I posted a bunch of rings on Pinterest and told him to look there; if he had any questions or doubts about an idea he had, that's where my best friend came in handy! 😂 He could show her his ring ideas and she knows me well enough to say if I'd love or hate it. So it worked out pretty well!

When ever rings happen to come up, I just start looking them up. My SO knows I want marriage, so I'm not shy about telling him what I want. I'm actually pretty sure he saved a picture of one I found on a jewelers website that both liked.

You could always look at getting one from Overstock or the Pagoda. My original one was from Amazon and the jeweler lied and said it was solid white gold. Definitely wasn't. It started turning black almost 6 weeks after he proposed, so I personally don't recommend Amazon or eBay without reading product reviews and recommendations thoroughly.

Pagoda has really amazing ones in sterling silver, that's what mine is and I seriously love it. If you're not a fan of cluster rings, it can be hard to find one that's not super expensive, but Pagoda DOES have them. So does Overstock. Even some jewelers have really great deals if you go in person.

My wedding band is from a local jewelry. It's 18k white gold and has 17 princess cut channel diamonds. The ring was originally 1k-2k and we got it for $400.

Pictures help!  I picked out my ring, but my hubby was with me. I'm frugal through, we have better things to spend our money in for sure. So we went the vintage estate sale route, and I found exactly what I wanted for $700, just took some effort!

Show him pictures of what you like. I got mine off amazon, I didn't want another expensive one, that one got stolen. I picked like 3 or 4 that I liked and then he chose from those.
