Can a straight person go to a gay bar?

I went to a gay bar with my gay friends. I went to the restroom and a girl was hitting on me and asking me if I'm single and ready to hook up and all. I told her I'm straight and she got offended telling me I should not go to gay bars to confuse lesbians and bis. So straights can't go to gay bar?

As long as you are polite and know this isn't your space. At our bar here, straight girls will bully their way around the gays because they think they're entitled to the best seats, views, and attention for Bachelorette parties and such, then don't tip most of the drag queens, just the pretty gay boy dancers. 
Next time, if asked, you can say you're straight but there to support your friend, and it'll likely go down a lot better.
