Venting this out with understanding mothers to be. Both me and my boyfriend have decided that the baby gender will be a surprise for everyone - including ourselves. We want to wait until birth.

Well, my father and step mom are coming for a visit. We live very far away (3 hours flight). They are coming over on purpose to help me because my boyfriend will be away for 1 week and a half. I cannot afford to be left alone anymore - need a lot of help.

On the same day they arrive I have a doctor appointment and I said maybe they would come in time to go with me.

My mother just called this morning telling me that they plan to go behind my back and ask the doctor what is the gender.

THE NERVE!!! How much more disrespectful of my/our wishes could they be??

Really.. i do appreciate they are coming over to help me, but that doesn't give them the right to go over the plans we have for our own baby!

I'm really furious, but considering this didn't come from them directly but as a warning from my mom, I will wait it out until they come to have a serious chat about boundaries with their first grandchild!

I'm getting very tired of this gender obsession coming from every side. It doesn't change our mind, only makes us even more stubborn to have it our way.
